Updated June 2026 · This is a product promise, not legal boilerplate
The one-line version: your media files never leave your Mac. Every job runs on-device via the open-source engine ffmpeg; FFmix only translates your clicks into commands.
Media files
Compression, transcoding, audio extraction, GIFs, subtitle burn-in — every task runs on your device. FFmix never uploads, caches, or analyzes your media content. Offline, everything works except cloud AI parsing.
The AI input
- Simple tasks (compress / convert / extract audio / GIF / subtitles) are parsed by local rules — nothing is sent anywhere.
- Compound requests send only the sentence you type (and nothing else) to the FFmix parsing service; the returned plan is discarded and never tied to an account.
- Usage counting stores only an anonymous device id × the current month's count, for the free quota (5/month).
- Subtitle transcription (Whisper) runs entirely on-device — your audio is never uploaded.
Telemetry & accounts
FFmix has no account system, collects no behavioral telemetry, and ships with crash logs off by default. Pro subscriptions go through the App Store — we never see your payment details.
